BRIE'S FAVORITE MAPLE CAKE | |
YELLOW CAKE: 2/3 c. butter, softened 1 1/3 c. sugar 2 eggs (1/3-1/2 c.) 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 c. all-purpose flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/4 c. milk Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour baking pan, 2 (9") heart layer pans (or round layer pans). In large mixing bowl, mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Beat 5 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. On low speed, mix in flour and baking powder alternately with milk. Pour into pan(s). Bake layers 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. MAPLE FROSTING: 1 c. maple syrup 2 egg whites Boil syrup until it spins a long 6" thread. Slowly pour stiffly beaten egg white and beat until thick. Then frost and stack the layers, and lick the beaters. |
