APPLESAUCE BREAD 
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. canned applesauce
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Sift together next 6 dry ingredients. Add to first mixture and mix thoroughly. Add applesauce and nuts. Mix only until blended.

Pour into loaf pan and let stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Cool before slicing (if applesauce is very sweet, reduce sugar to 1/2 cup).
