VANILLA BALLS (EA) 
VANILLA SUGAR:

1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. confectioners' sugar

3 1/2 DOZEN COOKIES:

3/4 c. butter
1/4 c. light cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
6 tbsp. superfine sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Vanilla Sugar: Add vanilla to confectioners' sugar. Mix well and press it through a sieve. Allow it to dry. Do this before you make the cookies.

Cream butter. Beat in cream and vanilla. Sift together flour and superfine sugar. Add this gradually to creamed mixture. Mix in chopped nuts. Chill. Pinch off pieces of dough and roll into small balls. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake in moderately slow oven, 325 degrees, for about 20 minutes. Take from baking sheets. Roll in vanilla sugar.
