GRANNY LIZ'S POTATO BREAD 
3 c. sugar
1 c. oil
4 eggs, separated
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. clove
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda in 2/3 c. water
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins
2 c. mashed sweet potatoes
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix as for any cake, fold in egg whites. Bake in 5 (1 pound) coffee cans, greased and floured, fill 1/2 full. Bake 1 hour in 350 degree oven.

This is mother's (Lizzie Mae Powell's) recipe. It is an old family recipe. She is 90 years old and still quilts all the time.
