1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
2 bags chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and mix into cream mixture. Add vanilla, salt, and flour. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
