NANA'S GIBLET GRAVY | |
This gravy is made from the broth from slow roasting a turkey in the oven which can be found under Nana's slow roast Turkey and cornbread dressing recipes. The fat from the broth comes from pouring the broth from the roasting pan into quart size Mason jars. The fat will rise to the top of the jars of broth as it cools. You can use the chopped giblets and a chopped boiled egg or just make the gravy plain. Either way is great! Using a heavy spoon slowly stir until the fat gets hot. Add spoonfuls of flour into the broth until it thickens but not stiff. Slowly add turkey broth and stir until it is beginning to thicken. If too thin add more flour by small spoonfuls. Cornstarch can also be used. Finally add the giblets and egg if using. Keep on low heat stirring frequently until serving. Submitted by: LJR |
