1 c. butter or Crisco
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, add sugar and cream again. Add the eggs and beat well. Sift together the flour, baking powder and nutmeg then add alternately with milk to the first mixture. Add vanilla and stir in. Knead in more flour to make a stiff dough then separate into twelve equal portions.
