BARLEY STEW 
1/3 c. each: Pinto beans, red beans, lentils, split peas, and black eyed peas
6 c. fresh water
1 (24 oz.) can V-8 juice
Garlic powder
Instead of Salt (Health Valley)
1 chopped onion
1/2 c. pearled barley
Any favorite vegetables

Soak beans overnight, covering with 2 inches of water. Drain off and rinse next morning. Simmer in a large pot soaked beans, water, V-8 juice, garlic powder, and Instead of Salt. Simmer, covered, over a very low heat for 6 hours, then add onion and barley. Simmer 45 minutes, then add any vegetables. Simmer 30 more minutes. Serves 10.
