APPLE STREUSEL BARS 
BASE MIXTURE:

2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
2 eggs

FILLING:

4 c. cooking apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon

ICING:

1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. lemon juice

BASE: Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until crumbs the size of peas. Separate eggs; reserve whites. Beat yolks slightly and stir into mixture. Press half of mixture over bottom of 9x13x2 inch ungreased pan. Reserve other half.

FILLING: Combine all ingredients; arrange over bottom crust. Crumble remaining crumb mixture over apples. Beat egg whites slightly and carefully brush over all. Bake in moderate 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Cool. Drizzle icing over all. Cut into bars.

ICING: Beat together first 4 ingredients. Add lemon juice and beat until smooth. Add cream if too thick.
