OLD FASHIONED SOUR CREAM COOKIES | |
3 eggs 2 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. sour cream 5 1/2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. nutmeg Cream eggs, brown sugar and shortening. Then add sour cream and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients; then gradually add to sour cream mixture. (Don't get dough too dry; has to be soft and slightly sticky.) Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/2" thick or better (cookies need to be cut thick or they won't be soft). Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. This is a very old recipe from my great grandmother. Makes about 6 dozen. |
