BAKED BEANS 
1 lb. navy beans
7 1/2 c. water
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tbsp. molasses
1/8 tsp. red pepper
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. catsup
1 sm. onion
1 tbsp. vinegar
Some bacon or salt pork
1/2 c. white sugar for caramelizing

Soak beans in water and then boil them until they crack and are done. Add rest of ingredients except for the 1/2 cup white sugar. Caramelize this sugar in a heavy fry pan, until melted and brown. Pour over beans.
