GRANNY'S CHESS PIE 
1 stick butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 rounded tbsp. corn meal
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. white vinegar
3 eggs
1/4 c. milk
9 inch unbaked pie shell

Melt butter with salt. Pour over sugar and stir. Add corn meal, vanilla, and vinegar and stir. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring after each one. Add milk and stir. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Two thirds cup coconut may be added for a coconut pie.
