RAISIN NUT BREAD
1 packet dry yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 tbsp. salt
6 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. melted shortening
1 c. hot milk
1 c. water
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Put sugar and salt in large bowl. Add water, then hot milk. Stir in 2 cups flour, then add yeast mixture, mixing well. Add some more flour, then melted shortening. Add a little more flour, then add nuts and raisins. Add flour until stiff enough to turn out onto a floured board.

Knead until it does not stick to the board. Grease the top and keep warm until it doubles it's size. Then knead down and let raise again. Then put into greased loaf pans and raise again.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until well browned on the sides of the loaves. Makes 2 loaves.
