ORANGE - RAISIN NUT BREAD | |
1 med. size orange, thick skin Boiling water (see recipe) 1 c. raisins 2 tbsp. shortening 1 tsp. vanilla 1 beaten egg 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts Use thick skinned orange. Place juice from orange in cup and fill with boiling water. Grind orange rind and raisins. Add juice, stir in shortening, vanilla and egg. Add flour sifted with salt, baking powder, soda and sugar. Beat well and stir in nuts. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 1 hour. |
