2 1/2 c. unsifted flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. butter, softened 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 3/4 c. Karo light or dark corn syrup 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped pecans 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Baker's semi sweet chocolate or 2 (4 oz.) pkgs. Baker's German sweet chocolate, cut in chunks Mix flour, baking soda, salt and set aside. In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Slowly beat in corn syrup, then egg and vanilla Beat in the flour mixture until well blended. Stir in pecans and 1/2 of the chocolate chunks. Spread evenly in an ungreased 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 1" jelly roll pan. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chunks on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on rack. Cut into 2 1/2" squares. Makes 2 dozen. |
