PRUNE CAKE 
CAKE:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. Wesson oil
3 whole eggs
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. cooked and cut prunes
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. broken nuts

SAUCE:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. Karo syrup

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Fold in vanilla, prunes and nuts. Bake for 1 hour in 300 degree oven. Grease and flour 9x13x2 inch pan. The batter will be very thin.

SAUCE: In large saucepan, combine sauce ingredients and cook until amber color. Pour over cake while warm. Just before it is time for the cake to come out of oven, make the sauce.
