RED KIDNEY BEANS 
One pound red kidney beans; bring to a boil from cold water after they have been soaked. Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and then take from stove. Drain and cover with cold water and finish cooking until tender.

While cooking, add ham or bacon or salt pork. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add 1 medium onion, 1 cup catsup, 1/2 cup molasses, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground mustard. Finish cooking, either on top of the stove or in the oven.
