OLD FASHION POLISH GOLUMBKI | |
2 med. or lg. cabbage 1 lb. rice 1 can tomato soup 1/4 lb. salt pork 1 1/2 lb. lean hamburger 1/4 tbsp. salt and pepper 1 dash Accent 1 pkg. instant beef broth 1 onion, chopped (optional) Precook rice until center is still hard. Saute hamburger; add all seasonings; cook until brown (cook loosely). Mix with rice. Saute salt pork in small cubes. Add drippings to rice and hamburger mixture. Loosen cabbage leaves in steaming water. Cut off hard core. Roll mixture onto cabbage leaves, wrapping up like a turnover. Place loose cabbage on bottom of large roasting pan. Top with rolled cabbage. Cover with can of tomato soup and 1 can of water. Cover with drippings and cabbage leaves. Bake covered at 325 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Serves 8-10. |
