ANGEL BISCUITS 'N HAM | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1/2 c. warm water 2 c. buttermilk 4 1/2 c. plain flour 1 tbsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 3 lb. thinly sliced ham, cooked (country ham) Combine yeast and warm water; let stand 5 minutes. Add buttermilk. Set aside. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients in a bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles meal. Add buttermilk mixture, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Place dough on lightly floured surface, knead 4 or 5 times. Roll 1/3 thickness. Cut 1 3/4 inch cutter. Cook at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Can be frozen. 6 dozen. |
