ROYAL CAKE 
1 lb. butter
6 eggs
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk (or orange juice)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon rind
1 tsp. rum

Cream butter and sugar (add sugar 1/3 at a time) and rum. Separate the whites and the yolks. Put yolks, one at a time in the mixture. Sift the flour and add alternately with milk (or orange juice). Beat the egg whites until fluffy and fold into the mixture with a spoon. Put mixture in a greased and floured pan. Bake for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
