YEAST FREE PIZZA CRUST &
HOMEMADE PIZZA

CRUST:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil

PIZZA:

Tomato sauce
Ground pork or hamburger, browned
Chopped onion
1/2 tbsp. pizza seasoning*
Mushrooms
Shredded pizza cheese

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and water. Knead on floured counter just until workable and spreadable, about 2 minutes. Put on pizza pan. With fingers, spread vegetable oil on crust (helps so tomato sauce won't soak into crust) then spread with tomato sauce and top with the meat of your choice. Sprinkle with pizza seasoning and top with mushrooms and cheese.

Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes.

Note: Pizza seasoning can be purchased at the supermarket. It has all of the dried spices together and you just sprinkle it on.

Variation: Roll the dough out thinly and use to make stuffed "Hot Pockets", calzones or turnovers. Fill with your favorite filling (a pizza topping with cheese and chopped pepperoni is my favorite!).

Yeast Free Pizza Crust & Homemade Pizza

I didn't have any yeast around so thought I'd try it. I mixed the oil (used olive oil) right in with the flour, water, salt & baking powder. It formed a ball very easily, it wasn't sticky, and I could then press it out more into a large pizza pan. I used organic flour. I then opened a can of organic tomato paste, added a lot of oregano, a few tbsp of water, some garlic powder, and a bit of cayenne pepper. I easily spread it on the crust. I then topped with seasoned hamburger, red bell pepper and Parmesan cheese. Since I made a large pizza, the crust was thinner so the pizza was done in less than 15 minutes. Crust was awesome! Oh--I also greased the pan beforehand with olive oil. By the way, vegetarians eat eggs and cheese, so you are getting plenty of protein that way. :-)

For those who are not big on salt... I'd say add half that. I added the 1 tsp. of salt and it was all I could taste. Add half and it's perfect.

The process was quick and easy; however the pizza crust turned out very hard

The dough tasted great and was easy enough to make. Instead of the oil, i used a garlic butter spread over the crust, then shook some parm cheese over it. yum! but i will say that the cook time was off... i set the timer for the suggested 20 and it only took 12 mins. fair warning to everyone trying this, be sure to check your pizza half way thru!

Very pleased with the results as I had no yeast and needed a quick recipe with a small amount of ingredients. I too had to add a little water. I made a stuffed pizza by laying down half of the dough and put shredded cheese, ham, turkey, sausage (cooked) and more cheese, then put the other half of the dough on top. Turned out great and tasty! Thanks for this recipe!

So, I was a chef at a restaurant that made pizza, and love yeast dough, but didn't want to spend the time wasted to rise. I used 1/2 semolina, and it was perfect. 1 recipe fit in (2) 9 inch pie pans, (i like deep dish pizza). i added 1 tsp olive oil to the dough, oregano, and thyme, then brushed it with olive oil on top, and I prebaked it, at 400°F for 10 minutes. filled it with sauce, turkey sausage (sliced TJ's turkey meatballs sauteed in Italian herbs) and goat cheese, and cracked pepper and olive oil. After 20 minutes at 400°F, i could take the whole pizza pie out of the oven, the crust was crispy, and it is delicious.

Thanks! This was just what I needed tonight (out of yeast and I really, really didn't want to run to the store). My olive, artichoke, and feta pizza turned out delicious. Will use this recipe again. Honestly, I think I liked it better than my regular yeast crust and it was so easy. Five stars!

can I say- YUM! I made this recipe for my mom and brother last night and it was a TOTAL SUCCESS!! I added olive oil and herbs to the flattened crust and pre baked just the crust as it was recommended by another commenter and topped it with sausage, onions, and mozarella ofcourse!I also cut the time in half because it bakes FAST. I recommend this dough for anyone who is satisfied with delicious quick-bake thin-crust pizza!

Used just the crust rolled out very thin and spread with pizza sauce and grated cheese, then rolled up and sliced like cinnamon buns. Best pizza rolls EVER. This dough is light and fluffy, perfect for a light snack.

KK, you described the problem yourself. If you couldn't knead it, then you must adjust the consistency.

did you try adding a little water or milk enough so that you could knead it? everyones flour is different and needs more or less moisture to get it to the same kneading consistency.

practice makes perrrfect! bread making is more of an art than a science.

TERRIBLE recipe for the crust. I was totally disappointed- I couldnt even get it a consistency that I could knead it.

I absolutely love this recipe!I was really in the mood for pizza and now I am fully satiated. I tweaked it a bit by using wheat flour and using other chopped veggies. Very yummy! :D
