ITALIAN CREME CAKE | |
1 stick butter 1/2 c. shortening 5 egg yolks 2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. coconut 1 c. pecans, chopped 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten Cream butter, shortening, sugar and egg yolks (add yolks one at a time). Add dry ingredients, alternated with liquids. Add coconut, pecans, then fold in egg whites. Pour into 3 - 9 inch cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. ICING: Cream 1 stick butter and 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese. Add: 1 box powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped pecans 1 c. coconut |
