BROWN SUGAR COOKIES 
2 1/8 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 lb. butter
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring or vanilla
3/4 c. pecans (optional)

Melt butter in large saucepan. Remove from heat. Add sugar; mix well. Add other ingredients, then eggs (one at a time); mix well. Spread in 8 x 12 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
