1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. water 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz. milk 4 eggs In a small pot, cook sugar until light but a rich brown syrup. Add water and stir. Pour mixture into a 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan which you have already placed in a 1-inch high water bath. While the syrup mixture is cooling, in a bowl blend together remaining ingredients. Pour mixture slowly on top of syrup. Bake (in the water bath) at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Chill thoroughly. Unmold onto serving plate which has a shallow rim. Serve cold. You may also want to use individual custard bowls. |
