BOSTON CREAM PIE 
4 eggs
3 tbsp. cold water
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together:

1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Beat egg yolks until thick; add cold water and vanilla gradually and continue beating until fluffy. Add sugar slowly and beat one minute more. Fold in the flour mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Bake in two layer cake tins in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Put layers together with:

VANILLA CREAM FILLING:

1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. scalded milk
2 tsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and beaten eggs; pour gradually onto this the scalded milk; add butter; cook in double boiler until thick and smooth, stirring constantly; add vanilla and cool.
