FRENCH BREAD (ROLLS) | |
1 pkg. yeast 1 c. warm water 1/2 c. cooking oil 4 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. salt All-purpose flour (about 4 1/2 c.) Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil, sugar and salt. Have 1/4 of a 5 pound bag of all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl. Add above mixture to flour and mix to a good working consistency. Form dough into a ball consuming most of the flour. Cover bowl with a cloth and put it in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size. Then punch dough down. Grease 2 pans with oil (about 1 tablespoon in each). Put some of the oil on your hands and work it with the dough and shape it into rolls. Place rolls into pans leaving a space between the rolls so they have room to raise. Cover pans with a cloth and put them in a warm place. When the rolls have risen until they are double in size, bake at 400 degrees until golden brown. |
