NETTIE'S YELLOW CAKE 
2 stick butter
2 c. sugar
6 egg yolks, plus the 2 yolks from icing used in fresh coconut cake
Add 2 more whole eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
2 heaping tsp. baking powder
3 c. cake flour
1 c. sweet milk, plus 2 tbsp.
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add this with the milk, add vanilla last. Bake in a bundt pan for 1 hour at 350 degrees. When cake cools, sift top and sides with powdered sugar.

"I never knew what to do with egg yolks left from coconut cake, so I made up this recipe and it does make a pretty cake. You could call it a gold cake because the egg yolks make it so pretty, " Nettie said.
