EASY BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1 c. raisins
2 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. shortening
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour

Cover raisins with boiling water; let cool. Cream together shortening, sugar and salt. Add eggs and beat well. Dissolve baking soda in raisins and water. Add to shortening and egg mixture. Then add gradually the flour and beat well. Use 5 vegetable or fruit cans, #2 size. Grease well and fill 1/2 full. Set cans on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Can be baked ahead of time because they freeze well when wrapped in aluminum foil.
