APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. orange juice

Prepare as for pie crust - add juice, form into ball, refrigerate.

FILLING:

4 lg. Granny Smith apples
6 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg, if desired

Chop apples, mix with cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll dough cut into 12 x 18 inch rectangle, cut into 6 squares. Divide apple mixture into 6 pastry squares - bring up corners over apples, seal edges. Place in 13 x 9 inch pan.

SAUCE:

1 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. water

Bring this mixture to boil and pour over dumplings. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Serve warm.
