APPLE-OAT CRISP 
3 sm. apples, cored and sliced
1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. granulated sugar
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

TOPPING:

1 oz. quick-cooking oats
2 tbsp. whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. + 1 tsp. reduced-calorie soft (not stick) butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium non-aluminum bowl, combine all fruit ingredients. Scrape into an 8 inch square baking dish.

To prepare topping, in small bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter with pastry blender or fingers until crumbly; sprinkle evenly over apple mixture. Bake 35-40 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned. Serve hot or warm. Makes 4 servings.
