SCALLOPED TURNIPS AND APPLES 
4 c. sliced cooked turnips
2 c. sliced raw apples
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. buttered bread crumbs

Arrange 2 cups turnips in bottom of greased casserole and cover with 1 cup apples. Sprinkle with half the sugar, salt and dot with half the butter, repeat the layers. Cover and bake at 350 degrees until apples are almost tender (20-30 minutes). Uncover and sprinkle with buttered crumbs. Bake until apples are tender and crumbs are lightly browned.
