1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
4 to 6 med. apples (Winesap, McIntosh or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, seeded & thinly sliced
3 tbsp. water
1/2 c. butter, softened

In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients, mixing well; set aside. Arrange apple slices in a buttered 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle dry ingredients over apples, mixing lightly with wooden spoon. Dribble water over mixture and evenly dot with butter. Bake, uncovered, in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Yield 8 to 10 servings.
