MANDARIN SALAD 
22-oz. can mandarin oranges
1 head iceberg lettuce, torn
1 head romaine lettuce, torn
6 green onions

Dressing:

1/4 c. oil
1/4 c. water
1/3 c. soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 c. slivered almonds
1/2 c. sugar
dash red and black pepper

In a heavy pan heat almonds and sugar over medium high heat until sugar melts and coats almonds. Pour out on a greased piece of foil. Separate almonds. Allow to harden and break into small pieces. When ready to serve, toss salad with dressing and sugared almonds.
