DATE CRUMB PUDDING 
3 tbsp. melted butter
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 c. toasted bread crumbs
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk

Mix together all ingredients in order given. Blend well. Pour into well greased (butter) casserole and cover. Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cover may be removed last 15-20 minutes to brown top of pudding if desired. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or apricot sauce.
