WALNUT BROWNIES 
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. shortening
3 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. all-purpose flour

Melt shortening with chocolate over hot water. Beat eggs with sugar, vanilla and salt until light. Beat in chocolate mixture. Blend in flour, then 1 cup walnuts. Turn into greased 9-inch square baking pan, sprinkle with 1/2 cup walnuts. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
