RICH PIE SHELL
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. hydrogenated vegetable shortening
1/4 c. butter
2 tbsp. cold milk

Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening and butter until particles are size of peas. Sprinkle with about 2 tablespoons cold milk, adding just enough to make a stiff dough. Shape into a ball. Roll out on lightly floured board using a floured rolling pin. Roll out to an 11 1/2 inch circle and fit into 9 inch pie pan. Fold edge under and flute, building up a high fluted rim. Prick all over bottom and sides with fork. Bake in 450 degree oven for about 7 minutes, or until light golden brown. This makes a very good rich crust for special pies, such as ice cream or chiffon.
