HUSH PUPPIES 
3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
1/2 c. potato buds
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. instant minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
2/3 c. milk

Heat vegetable oil (3-4 inches) in deep pan at 375 degrees. Mix corn meal, potatoes, flour, onion, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix egg and milk; stir into cornmeal mixture. Drop mixture by rounded teaspoons onto hot oil. Fry until golden brown, 3-5 minutes. Makes 24 hush puppies.
