HOT MUSHROOM TURNOVERS | |
Cream cheese dough: 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese 1/2 c. butter 1 1/2 c. flour Combine and make into a ball and refrigerate 1 hour. Filling: 1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, minced 1 med. onion, minced 1 1/2 tbsp. butter Saute. Remove and stir in: 1 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 of 1/4 tsp. ground thyme Roll pastry 1/8" thick -cut with 3" cookie cutter. Place 1 1/2 teaspoon filling on half of the circle. Beat 1 egg - brush edge of circle with egg so it will seal. Fold in half and crimp edge. Prick 3 times with fork and brush top with beaten egg. Place on baking sheet one inch apart. Bake 450 degrees - 12 minutes or when golden. Serve immediately. If you wish to prepare this recipe ahead of the party, do the following. For freezing, before baking - Bake 450 for 15 - 20 minutes. For freezing after baking, cool completely. Remove from freezer an bake 6 - 8 minutes. |
