2 pkgs. Jello (raspberry, black currant or strawberry) Birds Eye custard (or make your own) 1 pkg. lady fingers Jam (the same flavor as Jello used) 1-2 bananas 1 can mandarin oranges Seasonal fruit Sherry (fruit juice) 1 pt. whipped cream Prepare Jello and chill. Split the lady fingers and spread a little jam on end half. Arrange around the base of a deep dessert bowl. Drizzle sherry or fruit juice over the fingers. Let stand. Prepare custard and leave to cool. Clean and slice the fruit (drain the oranges thoroughly). Stir the Jello around and add the fruit before the Jello is completely set. Cover the lady fingers with the Jello/fruit, then pour the (cold!) custard on top of the Jello. Whip the cream until it is very firm and spread over the top of the custard. Please Note: Do not mix pineapple or kiwi fruit with the Jello or it will NOT set. |
