LIME PICKLES 
1 gal. pickles, sliced 1/4" thick
2 c. slack lime

Cover pickles with lime and water. Let set overnight. Wash well several times and cover with water and let stand 3 hours. Drain well. To make syrup: 10 c. sugar 1 tsp. whole cloves 2 tbsp. salt 2 tsp. pickling spices 2 tsp. celery seed

Stir well and pour over pickles hot. Let stand overnight. Simmer pickles in syrup 35 minutes and put into jars and seal.
