1 c. white flour
1/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sour milk
4 tbsp. shortening
Pinch of salt
1 egg

Sift flour, sugar, salt, and soda; mix with cornmeal. Combine milk, shortening, and egg. Add to dry ingredients. Stir until just moistened. Bake in 350 to 375 degree oven.
