CHOW CHOW 
1 gal. chopped cabbage
12 onions, med. size
12 green sweet bell peppers, chopped
2 qts. chopped green tomatoes
5 c. sugar
1 gal. vinegar
4 tbsp. mixed spices (tied in bag)

Mix ingredients with 1/2 cup salt. Let stand overnight. Drain and add sugar and vinegar and spices. Cook 30 minutes and seal in jars while hot.
