1 tbsp. fat
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 lb. ground beef, crumbled into sm. pieces
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/4 c. flour
2 c. water or milk

Melt shortening in frying pan. Add onion and brown slightly. Add meat and continue browning. Season. Mix flour and liquid, pour over meat and stir until gravy bubbles. Serve over mashed potatoes.
