OATMEAL-CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
2 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Cream both sugars, butter and shortening until light and creamy. Add flour, baking soda, salt and vanilla to creamed mixture. By hand, stir in chocolate chips, oatmeal and nuts. (Add each of the three ingredients one at a time to make mixing easier.) Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
