RED VELVET CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 bottle red food coloring
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream Crisco, sugar, eggs, vanilla and coloring in large bowl. Sift cocoa and salt then add flour. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to Crisco mixture. Beat by hand until smooth. Mix vinegar and baking soda together and fold into batter. Bake in well greased and floured layer pans 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with velvet cake icing.
