RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
1 oz. red food coloring
7 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. flour

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with buttermilk. Add food coloring and flavoring. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 90 minutes at 325 degrees.

FROSTING:

1 lb. confectioners' sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. pecans
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine the above ingredients and beat until of spreading consistency.
