TURRENTINE SWEET PICKLES | |
5 lbs. sugar 1/2 gal. vinegar 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. pickling spice 1 gal. water with 1 c. lime 1 tbsp. cloves 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1. Wash and cut cucumbers as desired in about 1/4 inch slices. 2. Soak in lime water overnight. 3. Wash and soak in vinegar-sugar-spice solution overnight. 4. Boil for about 30 minutes or until clear. 5. Put in and seal in sterilized bottles. Variation: Before soaking, peel cucumbers with potato peeler. Add red food coloring to both solutions. Add one bag (small) red hot cinnamon candy to vinegar solution. |
