FRUIT MEDLEY SLUMP 
2 c. sliced peaches
1 1/2 c. sliced red plums
1/2 c. blueberries or raspberries
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. milk

In 10 inch skillet, combine first 5 ingredients. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Meanwhile in mixing bowl: flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, salt and baking soda. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs form. Make a well in center of mix. Add milk. Stir until dough clings together.

On floured surface, knead dough 10 to 12 strokes. Roll or pat 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutter or cut into 2 x 1 inch rectangles. Drop cutouts onto hot fruit in skillet. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired. Cover and cook 10 to 15 minutes or until dumplings test done. To serve, spoon warm fruit and dumplings into serving dish. Serve with light cream, if desired. Serves 8.
