HAMBURGER AND VEGETABLE SOUP 
1 lb. hamburger
1 c. diced potatoes
1 sm. head cabbage, shredded
4 c. tomato juice
3 c. water
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. sliced carrots
1 c. sliced celery
1/4 c. rice
3 tsp. salt

Brown hamburger in skillet until brown; drain all grease off. Place hamburger and remaining ingredients in large pot, simmer slowly until vegetables are tender. May be cooked (simmered) slowly an hour or two.
