SPECIAL POUND CAKE 
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
4 or 5 lg. eggs (1 c.)
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. sherry
2 tsp. vanilla or 3 tbsp. rum
1 tsp. brandy

Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and beat. Add flour mixture alternately with the milk. Add flavoring. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Let stand 10 minutes before turning out of pan.

MINUTE FUDGE FROSTING:

Combine 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup butter. Bring to a full rolling boil and boil hard for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and beat until creamy enough to spread.
